What Is Referral?
In the same way that your GP may refer you to a Consultant about a particular health issue that you have, a primary care vet may determine that your pet needs more specialised expertise than they can offer and will recommend that a referral to a Specialist vet is appropriate.
Specialists at referral centres have vast experience and advanced training in their field, as well as access to specialist equipment that might not necessarily be available in general practice.
