Southfields continues to offer Specialist Vet care despite COVID-19 restrictions

In light of the recent government announcement, we want to reassure you that Southfields Veterinary Specialists is still open 24/7. We are here to support our referring practices, clients and patients, and we will continue to deliver our services with safety measures in place.

With the coronavirus pandemic presenting ongoing issues for many businesses and vital services, our expert clinicians are urging pet owners not to put off seeking out treatment for their animals due to increased restrictions.

We have already introduced a raft of measures here at Southfields to support our clients throughout the pandemic, such as enhanced personal protective equipment, COVID-compliant working practices, new communication systems and training team members on all new protocols to better support both clients and patients.

Daniel Hogan, Hospital Director, said: “Of course, it’s concerning to see Essex placed into Tier 2 and we sympathise with everyone affected by the restrictions.

We know many people might feel unsure or unsafe due to the pandemic but we want to urge pet owners not to delay seeking veterinary treatment for their pets.

We follow strict guidance set out by the government and our governing body, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) and adhere to all social distancing protocols.

In human medicine, the NHS is urging us to seek help for suspected or chronic conditions and not wait until the coronavirus pandemic has passed. The same applies to our pets.

We hope the measures we have introduced put clients’ minds at ease and ensures prompt treatment for any patients who need it.

Ultimately, our message to everyone is we are very much open to support your pets needs and are doing everything we can to continue to provide the very best care possible.”

We also launched video consultations within days of the national lockdown earlier in the year, a service we continue to offer to provide vital assessments and treatment of patients.

Our multi-disciplinary team provides Specialist services in anaesthesia and analgesia, cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology, orthopaedics, radiation and soft tissue surgery.
