Southfields boosts Neurology team with talented arrival

One of the UK’s leading referral centres has boosted its acclaimed Neurology service with the addition of a new clinician.

Southfields Veterinary Specialists in Laindon, Essex, which is part of Linnaeus, has appointed Sophie Wyatt to its industry-leading specialist-led team.

She will be working alongside Southfields’ head of neurology Ane Uriarte and Dr Fabio Stabile, who are both RCVS and EBVS specialists, resident Oliver Marsh, intern Guillame Albertini and nurse Kirsty Aloi.

Sophie, who has just completed her ECVN neurology specialist training at the Royal Veterinary College, said: “I’m really excited to have joined Southfields Veterinary Specialists and I look forward to the challenges of the new role and working with the amazing team here.”

Southfields clinical director Dr Henry L’Eplattenier said: “The continuing success of Southfields is our team of highly qualified and talented people who deliver the highest standard of care to the pets treated in our hospital.

“I’m delighted to welcome Sophie into our exceptional team and I’m sure she will a wonderful addition to the group.”

Sophie, who graduated from the Royal Veterinary College, London, in 2012, has demonstrated her passion for animal care with two spells of voluntary work for pet charities.

She has since completed a rotating internship at the Royal Veterinary College and a neurology-specific internship at Pride Veterinary Centre.

Sophie is interested in all aspects of veterinary clinical neurology and research. Her key interests include neuro-ophthalmology, management of traumatic brain injury, neuro-oncology, and feline neurological disease.

Outside work, Sophie enjoys travelling, cycling and cooking. Her hobbies include running and rowing where she is a member of a local club.
